Thankfully, accidents, injury and sudden illness in the workplace are rare. But if the unexpected happens you should be prepared to deal with it.
Gems Engineering staff undertook an emergency first aid course which covered the roles and responsibilities of a first-aider including; being able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is or is not breathing normally, including use of an external automated defibrillator; being able to manage a casualty with external bleeding; being able to manage a casualty with a minor injury.
They covered both practical and theoretical elements to the assessment.
John, Michal and Laura passed The Highfield Award in Emergency First Aid at Work at SCQF Level and were awarded a certificate of completion.
